At the end of August I attended the wedding of Kim and Byron at the stunning Dillington House. As these two live in Australia I only met them a few days before the wedding to talk through the photographs they would like. They also informed (and I could see) that they were expecting their first child together, being currently pregnant myself I could share in their excitement. Something that made me even more excited was they they didn’t know if they were having a boy or girl; and they would find this out in a baby gender reveal wedding cake in front of all their loved ones. Only the lady at the scan and cake maker knew if it was blue for a boy or pink for a girl.
On the morning of the wedding Kim got ready with her bridesmaids as guests from all over the UK and the world gathered down stairs with Byron. Dillington House was the perfect choice for them; Byron’s Grandad live’s on the estate and has done for many years, so Byron has many special memories of growing up on the grounds. It was wonderful that so many friends and family travelled far and wide to come together at Dillington.
Soon it was time for Kim to walk down the aisle on the arm of her dad, as they reached the front he was asked if he would give his daughter to Bryon, he contemplated which made everyone fall about with laughter. The ceremony was great, personal and fun with a choice of children’s readings and poems; after we headed outside for drinks and canapés on the lawns. Every time I visit Dillington there is a buzz about the sausage canapés, all wedding guests love them and it makes me laugh that everyone talks about them! After dinner the speeches were held and all 3 were great; but more importantly it was time for the cutting of the cake which everyone (myself included) was very excited about! We all gathered around and watched as Kim and Byron cut the top tier… as the cake fell down it revealed a blue sponge and everyone one cheered and started hugging each other! It was a wonderful moment and one I will cherish forever, yes I did shed a tear as I was so happy for these two and loved capturing the moment for them.
Once the band set up Kim and Byron took to the floor for their first dance and then the party got started and I loved that everyone hit the dance floor and was having an amazing time! People always ask me what my favourite venue is, but I always say its not the venue that makes the wedding its the people and this day proves that. A massive congrats to the new Mr and Mrs Booth and I am pleased to add baby Joshua arrived safe and well so a massive congrats again on his arrival!
