At the end of August Emily and Josh tied the knot in the heart of Somerset; it turned out to be a beautiful day which started at the boys house while Josh got ready with his best man and ushers. I then moved on to the girls house where Emily and all her bridesmaids were getting ready. It was a great morning as all the hair and make-up came together. A big relief when the postman finally showed up delivering a very special gift Emily had got for Josh; a family pocket watch reset.
Eventually it was time for Emily to get into her gown; she looked amazing and it was beautiful to see her dads face as she came down the stairs. I then headed off to All Saint’s Church, East Pennard to get ready for the arrival of the bride via camper-van! Josh seemed calm and more excited; I loved his expression as Emily enters the church!
The ceremony was perfect and the music by Josh’s friends was amazing; live music makes a church come alive. After we had lots of confetti we walked around the corner and into the grounds of where the reception was being held; the stunning Pennard House. This was my first time at this venue and I loved it. It was perfect; everyone enjoyed Pimms on the lawns before heading over to the Barn for the wedding breakfast. I loved Emily and Josh’s decorations; particularly the Polaroid camera for guests to play with and the suitcase table plan!
Once everyone was seated it was time for the speeches; Emily and Josh had told me that the night they first met was at Emily’s sisters wedding and that night they consumed a lot of Sambuca; so it seemed only right that their first toast as Mr and Mrs was; Sambuca! A great personal touch which I loved.
After dinner the party soon got started and everyone headed downstairs to the rest of the Barn. As it used to be stables they have kept some of the original features which really add character to the barn. Josh’s best man Dom had flown in from the USA and was quite jet lagged; so managed to have a little nap which had to be documented!
I had such an amazing time with Emily and Josh and their whole family and friends made me feel so welcome. It truly was such a great day and I couldn’t be happier for such a lovely couple!
